Nannying is way more than babysitting.
It’s caring for kiddos on their turf, cutting the crusts off of their sandwiches, learning what snacks they like (and keeping them coming all day long), learning which blanket is their favorite, and cuddling up to read them a book on the couch, where mama + daddy usually sit with them.

It’s the occasional tantrum and working together to make it a learning experience that usually ends in hugs and a tickle fight.
It’s helping them learn new things—colors, shapes, and first words (for Mila). For Grey, it’s more like defining words that the typical 5-year-old has no idea about.
It’s going fun places, cooking together, and finding snacks littered throughout the house. It’s playing hide & seek and chasing each other around the house.

It’s bedtime snuggles and a bond that can’t be broken.
I get to laugh, kiss boo-boo’s, exercise (against my will—Grey likes to run!), and I get to eat a LOT of Chick-fil-A!
I thought I knew so much about kids after being a teacher and being in the field of early childhood education for 12 years. But nannying has taught me so many new skills and strengths and has given me a new respect for parenthood. #mamaintraining
Nannying is not just babysitting. It’s not just carpooling and making PB&Js. (although I am a snack-bitch a lot of the time). It’s working hard each and every day to be a caregiver for the family. Doing whatever I can to help.
I treat these kids as if they were my own, and I work hard to not only make things fun but to make each day successful. In my opinion, nannying is one of the most rewarding jobs there is.

Leaving my corporate management position to nanny and focus on my oils business was the scariest thing I’ve ever done, but it is still the best decision I’ve ever made. Literally living my dream.
A nanny will never replace mama, but man…it sure is a good feeling to love these kiddos like they’re my own.
To all my fellow nannies out there- job well done! Be confident to share what you do.
get your shine on.
xoxo, k.
